Six public sources publish six different headline numbers for the European MICE market. The €55B spread is a scope problem, not a measurement problem. Here is how we collapsed it to a single defensible €190B figure.
Scope mapping
Classified each source as organiser revenue, direct spend, direct + indirect, or total economic impact. Excluded total-economic-impact studies — multiplier methodology varies too widely between national studies to compare cleanly.
Currency + year normalisation
All figures normalised to euros at March 2026 average rates and to the 2026 forecast year. Where sources publish 2025 with implied 2026 growth, applied the source's own growth rate.
Scope uplift to common denominator
Organiser-only and direct-only sources uplifted to direct + indirect using the EIC published direct-to-total multiplier for Europe (≈1.27).
Outlier check
Once normalised, every source sits within €25B of the €190B midpoint. No source excluded. Cross-checked against 1,298 venues in our own Apify pipeline — implied per-venue revenue is consistent with our observed median.
