Best Conference Hotels in Dublin 2026: MICE Planner's Shortlist

Dublin has become one of Europe's fastest-growing MICE destinations in the last decade, largely because of the concentration of tech companies (Google, Meta, LinkedIn, Stripe, Microsoft have major Irish operations). Corporate demand is strong weekday, softer weekend. The city is compact; most MICE hotels are walkable from each other.

The three Dublin MICE corridors

1. St Stephen's Green / Grafton / Dawson Street (city centre luxury)

Historic centre. Georgian buildings, Trinity College, Grafton Street shopping, St Stephen's Green park. Hotels here are boutique-scale (limited by heritage building footprints) but deliver premium experiences. Best for executive offsites, client events, incentive trips.

Typical properties: The Shelbourne, The Merrion Hotel, The Westbury, The Fitzwilliam Hotel, Iveagh Garden Hotel, Conrad Dublin.

2. Docklands / Silicon Dublin (tech + financial district)

East of centre, along the Liffey. The Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) is here, as are the EU HQs of major tech firms. Modern hotels with proper conference capacity. Best for tech industry events, corporate conferences, partner summits.

Typical properties: The Marker Hotel, Hilton Dublin Kilmainham, The Spencer Hotel, Gibson Hotel, Clayton Hotel Burlington Road, Hyatt Centric The Liberties Dublin.

3. Dublin Airport / Santry (fly-in convenience)

Hotels clustered 5-10 min from Dublin Airport. Ideal for fly-in-fly-out events where attendees arrive same day. Downsides: no Dublin atmosphere, limited evening programme options.

Typical properties: Radisson Blu Hotel Dublin Airport, Maldron Hotel Dublin Airport, Hilton Dublin Airport, Holiday Inn Dublin Airport, Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport.

Best fit by event type

1. Executive offsite, 40-80 pax, heritage/luxury feel. The Shelbourne or The Merrion. Iconic.
2. Tech conference, 150-500 pax. Docklands corridor: The Marker, Gibson, Hilton Kilmainham. CCD nearby for plenary overflow.
3. Client incentive, 60-150 pax, Irish experience focus. City centre + evening programmes in Temple Bar.
4. Partner summit, 100-300 pax. Conrad Dublin (proper ballroom) or Westbury.
5. Fly-in board meeting, 15-40 pax. Airport hotels. Minimal logistics.
6. Mixed-sector corporate kickoff, 200-600 pax. Clayton Hotel Burlington Road + CCD rental.

Dublin MICE calendar

Avoid (rates spike or unavailable):

• St Patrick's Day week: 10-18 March. Hotels 2-3x normal.
• Web Summit spillover: although Web Summit moved to Lisbon, satellite events still happen in Dublin. Check calendar.
• Major rugby / GAA match weekends: unpredictable; check Aviva Stadium and Croke Park schedules.

Soft weeks: mid-January, first half of August, late November (pre-Christmas).

What to ask for in your Dublin RFP

1. VAT-inclusive rate. Irish VAT on accommodation is 9 percent; on meeting rooms 13.5 percent. Clarify.
2. Tourist tax. Dublin does not yet have a tourist tax (as of 2026); verify current status.
3. Airport shuttle inclusion. Many business hotels include; confirm in corporate rate.
4. Traditional Irish evening. City centre hotels with concierge can organise Irish music / pub crawl / distillery tour. Price well vs. DMC.
5. Tech event capacity. If your event needs high-bandwidth WiFi for 300+ simultaneous devices, verify hotel spec explicitly.
6. Stag/hen party nearby. Dublin weekends attract significant stag/hen traffic in Temple Bar. If your event is weekend, ask about hotel atmosphere; some properties are families-only friendly.
