Which city, which buyer

Pick the right Nordic capital in 30 seconds

Each rule is conditioned on the buyer's primary constraint. All four Nordic capitals will pass an ISO 20121 / Green Key procurement check; the differences are in cost, capacity and storytelling fit.

Cost-first, sustainability still important → Stockholm

Cheapest after FX, deepest branded conference inventory (Scandic + Strawberry), Stockholmsmässan for 500+ delegate congresses. Default choice for a corporate sales kickoff with CSRD reporting in scope.

Cost-first, FX risk must be zero → Helsinki

Eurozone — no FX clause, no hedging. DDR sits at the bottom of the Nordic range. Smaller convention centre footprint (Messukeskus) but more than enough for 200–800 delegate corporate events.

Sustainability-first, large congress fit → Copenhagen

Only city-level ISO 20121-certified destination in the four (Wonderful Copenhagen). Highest ISO 20121 venue count. Bella Center handles 1,000+ delegate congresses. Most expensive after Oslo but with the cleanest paper trail.

Sustainability-first, brand-led portfolio → Oslo

Strawberry-anchored. Norway's hydropower-dominant grid produces low Scope 2 intensity per delegate-day. Highest baseline cost; tightest F&B margin compression in BAFO. Eco-Lighthouse alongside ISO 20121.

Ask for ISO 20121 + Green Key cert numbers

A real certificate has a unique number and an expiry date. Decline self-declared "sustainability statement" PDFs in lieu.

VAT

Confirm partial recovery rules

Denmark allows narrow VAT recovery on conference services for foreign buyers; check upstream before signature.

F&B split

Negotiate F&B separately for Oslo

Highest F&B margin of the four. Splitting room rental from F&B in BAFO surfaces more savings than the bundled DDR.
